For future reference, I just figured this out. The problem file(s) apparently got created with a timestamp at the unix epoch, resulting in a timestamp of "1969-12-31 15:59" (at least in PST, which is GMT-8). At any rate, this causes the file to fail to open (for whatever reason.. be it a V...

I've done several searches and found many references to a similar problem, but found no solutions.
