Thank you very much for taking the time to help me. Though I did not always understand what you meant in your questions due to my too little knowledge of your language, you surely helped me a lot. I will be able now to get vlc 0.8.4a to work on my system! I will let you know as soon as that happens....

The thing is: I'm using win xp sp2. The picture you showed seems like a Mac to me.
Isn't there a different solution? Like a command line interface option.
If so: what should be the right syntax?

The video menu should have a crop subitem when playing a video. (It allows on the fly croping)
I'm really curious! How?
I'm trying to do so for quite some time, but no positive results so far.
