I have had VMWare installed on both a Linux system and a Windows system. VMware is breaking VLC so that you can't connect to multicast streams (haven't tried unicast streams). Hi Frank, If your aren't using the newest Alcatel switches (66xx, 7x00, 8800). Then I would say that your primary problem is that the port blocks the traffic, because it thinks you are flooding the ports.
