VLC - What am I doing wrong?

VLC is often referenced as a miracle player that can play virtually any format. I've also heard it said that VLC uses less CPU than other programs. Many people seem to love it. My experiences with it have been exactly the opposite. Sure, it usually plays most files, if something else doesn't go wron...

It sounds like DirectX is having trouble initializing the display. Try updating your Video drivers and DirectX runtime. I have DirectX 9c installed. Also, my video card drivers are the latest ones you can possibly get for Windows 98SE. In fact, the Nvidia site only lists 81.98, but I have 82.16, do...

VLC frozen for first ten seconds of video?

About half the time when I open a video with VLC, the window resizes itself and the sound starts playing but the display is just black and the entire window is frozen. I can't even close it. When the image finally appears, the time display jumps to 10 seconds, then it works normally. It's seems to b...

1. Pressing "I" during full screen playback will do absolutely nothing. However, pressing "i" during full screen playback will bring up a control interface. Yes, that works. I have a habit of using capital letters in examples, even if the hotkey is lowercase. I used to use the e...

Call VLC directly or create a shortcut without options. Ok, the Embed option stays unchecked, but pressing 'I' during fullscreen playback still opens a large VLC window complete with blank video display area which covers a large portion of the screen. Oh, and VLC won't play several of my videos thi...

The problem is that while VLC may do a large number of things, it doesn't do any of them particularly well, at least in my experience. The WMV support is seriously broken, the DVD support is kind of hit or miss, just toggling options in the prefs can cause it to crash and the DivX/mpeg4 support does...

That's because the video is embeded in the interface. If you disable it, you get a tiny window. Settings - Preferences - Interface - General - wxWidgets - uncheck "Embed video in interface". Save and restart VLC. erbsen That doesn't work either. Or rather unchecking the Embed video option...

VLC 0.8.4a - Many problems/bugs...

I searched and didn't find most of these mentioned. I have tried several versions of VLC over the past couple of years on two different systems and so far 0.8.4a is the first one that's actually worked for me. However, it is still extremely buggy for me. First, I only have a couple of DVDs to try it...

Re: How to make it act like windows media player 6.4

Press "i" on the keyboard or in Preferences, Control interface check the box marked "interface showing control interface" and save. When you move the cursor to the top of the screen the controls will pop up. Clicking anywhere on the screen will make it disappear. Wrong. Checking...
