The error also happens if no video was loaded.
Have no idea why but it does ^^

And the trick with the skinable interface lets my vlc crash at start up.
Maybe we see more then one error here?

I do not think that this is the problem.
Normally this happens if the file itself is damaged or has some really strange codec.
I had some videos which opened about 20 windows with VLC but only one in Windows Media Plyer classic.

I'm quiet sure that it does not come from the three points you listed up there.
I can play the files correctly on my main monitor and once I change the settings to display it on my second monitor some files will not work (like DVDs or H624).

I just noticed what if you are using 0.8.5 the sound will be copied to every line but the bass line.

As I said before, it works fine if you use wxwigets.
But If you use the skin2 Interface (its called "Skinbare interface" in german)
it will nor work. And since I use the chaos skin to play the video on my TV and controll them with my normal monitor it doesnt work.
