RAM cache size

Postby glitch003 » 18 Feb 2012 07:27

Hi, I have a lot of ram (16GB) and I want to load an entire video into the VLC ram cache.

Basically, I have all my media on an external HD and if I'm watching something and pause it, the HD goes to sleep. It then takes some time for the HD to spin back up when I start playing the video again. If I can just load the entire video into RAM, the HD can go to sleep and I won't have to wait for it to spin back up when I unpause video.

Is there a commandline option for this built in, or is this the kind of thing I will have to modify the source to get?

Thanks!
