How can I play cable TV on my Mac

Postby sscotti » 11 Feb 2012 12:46

I have comcast cable, a Scientific Atlantic cable box and an iMac. I downloaded the firewire SDK and ave the AVCBrowser. At one point I was able to play a cable channel on the iMac using the interface, but it isn't working anymore. I have the new 27" iMac, and it would be really nice to be able to play HDTV and cable on the Mac.

The cable box is hooked up to the Mac via FireWire, haven't tried USB, but I am connected to the device. I open the AVCBrowser, open the device, connect succeessfully. I click on the Panel tab and then click on Start Viewer, but now no joy. Just wondering if someone has more detailed instructions or suggestions for troubleshooting, or if there is an alternate way to use VLC for viewing cable TV on the Mac without buying a new hardware device.

try VLC 2.0. But to be honest, this is not well tested on VLC
