Audio disappears when I transfer video to another computer

Postby meika » 11 Feb 2012 00:17

I have two identical computers, both new, both with the latest version of VLC. I downloaded five videos from YouTube and they play fine on one computer: video and audio are clear. But when I copied them to a flash drive and put them on the other computer, the video was fine but there was no audio at all. This hasn't happened with any other videos, regardless of which computer they were originally downloaded on, and I cannot figure out what is causing the audio to disappear on one computer. Has anyone else experienced - and solved - this problem?

If your OS is Windows Vista or Seven then try to rename the executable to VLC2.exe.
If it works then for some reason VLC has been muted in the sound mixer settings.

Read more about this here:

I renamed it vlc2.exe but unfortunately that didn't work. It might be easier just to reinstall the program. It's still working fine on the other computer.
