H.264 4:2:2 High Profile .mov not compatible?

H.264 4:2:2 High Profile .mov not compatible?

Tested file using VLC 1.1.11 Windows 7 and VLC 1.1.12 Mac OS 10.6.8 created in Telestream Episode 6.2.1.1 (Mac) which did not player on either VLC Player. The same file players on both MPlayerX Mac and SMPlayer WIndow. VLC shows black video (with some random blocks). I suspect VLC isn't decoding 4:2:2 Chroma.

The file specs are
H.264 .mov
Video Bit Rate: 15Mbps CBR
Frame Rate: 29.97 fps
Aspect Ratio: 4:3
Width/Heigh: 720x480
Chroma 4:2:2 (High 4:2:2@L3.0)
Enctropy CABAC
Key frames Natural and Forced (100 frames)
1 B-Frame, 2 Ref Frames
Interlacing: Lower Field First
Audio: PCM 48KHz 16Bit Stereo

Can VLC decode H.264 4:2:2 or might it be some other issue?
Note again MPlayer played this file without issue.

I don't see 2.0 unless there's a link to beta builds I don't see.

Tested 2.0.0 rc1 Intel 64 Bit on Mac OS 10.6.8
The file plays without issue.
