Play the Remote WebCam stream with VLC

here is my question,

I watch the remote webcam streaming from a page which has this format (for example):
http://xyz.com/camera/live.html

how is it possible to play it with VLC instead on the standard window of my browser?

Locate the actual video URL (either from HTML source code or use tool like WireShark) and paste it to Media -> Open network....

how should the actual video URL look like?
Does it have a special format?
Are there some standard words I can search for using the Find utility of the Mozilla?

Depends about the format.

it can contain e.g. rtsp:// or .flv

If there is an embedded player, you can find it from source by searching <embed
