ASF file playback problem

When I record a stream from RAI3 (mms://a1044.l6935833043.c69358.g.lm.akamaistream.net/D/1044/69358/v0001/reflector:33043?) I get an ASF file. Playback is fine with Windows Media Player. If I play it back with VLC the playback starts correctly, but if I use the time slider to advance in the recording, I get a stuttering back and forth between two brief sound segments while the time slider continues to move. I'm running Windows 7 64bit and can provide a 30 second file that does this.
