Videolan Android? is going to take too much to release it?

Hello
I got a new phone, the SAMSUNG Galaxy ACE with Android 2.2
Every time I have to watch a video file there, SAMSUNG provides me a program to upload the file to the phone and convert it to the video format the phone accept, normally, mp4.
This process, take hours and it's a royal pain.
Everyone knows VideoLAN is the best player in the world.

Have someone news about when it will be released for Androdid?
Would it work fine in my phone, with Androdid 2.2?
To install it in Android is complex? I don't have many idea of how to install Android applications... so if you could give me some tips for Videolan, I'd be grateful.

I imagine, and we, our loyal followers, don't have words to say MERCI for the amazing job you are doing, just understand we want our wonderful VLC as fast as possible!

Please, pay a lot of attention of WMV files.
There are other players, that simply don't work well with them. For example, MOBO player, reproduce AVI fine, after downloading a package of codecs. But VMV? No way! MOBO reproduce it slooooooooooooow sloooooooooooooooooooow with the audio not synchronized.
Don't we agree VLC is the best? !
