vlc audio sync different between Windows and Linux!?

Postby sprice » 13 Oct 2011 11:12

I've been busy ripping my 100s of DVDs. I'm simply using MakeMKV on Windows 7 and things seem fine when playing the rips back with vlc on Windows 7. But yesterday I happened to try playing one of the rips with vlc on Linux Mint 11 and the audio was out of sync. I tried playing several other rips on vlc / Linux Mint 11 and they too were out of sync. I've now lost faith as to the integrity of the rips I've already made, and my ripping is presently at a standstill. Can anyone enlighten me please as to what's going on here? MTIA...

Change audio output in preferences.

There are known sync problems in VLC 1.1.10 and 1.1.11 with PulseAudio. That should be fixed in 1.1.12. Alternatively, use ALSA.
