Adding audio to an IP Camera stream

I am new to this board and need some help. I have a new IP Camera application that I am running that allows audio but requires an application and suggests VideoLan as the way to do this. I tried the VideoLan download and the X264 but cannot get them to attach to the application. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.
