I've got a 7.2 set up which works great with my bluray player as anything less than 6.1 is automatically "expanded" to use all the speakers.
Unfortunately when playing movies with a 5.1 track through my laptop (via hdmi to the amp) I'm only getting the 5.1 output and can't see any setting in VLC to expand the audio to the 2 side speakers.
Is there a setting I'm missing? A plug-in I can install? Would be great to make use of all my speakers if possible
Not sure if it matters - but I'm running windows 7 and the latest version of VLC
