Which UDP Ports to forward for RTSP VOD

Postby BigBee » 11 Jun 2011 22:09

I successfully started and run a RTSP vod server in my pc at port 5554..

I forwarded the port 5554 for both TCP and UDP purposes.. but i cant connect from another computer from internet..

I found out the fault was.. VLC opens UDP ports for data transferring which i didnt forward..

Now my questions are..

• Since VLC chooses those ports at random do i need to port forward all 0 - 65535 ports for UDP ?
• Or is there any way i could restrict the UDP ports choosen by vlc to be in a range ?

Otherwise please suggest me a problem free streaming solution other than RTSP...

You need to forward ports in the dynamic range, whatever that is on your system.
