Not able to play .sub files

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

Not able to play .sub files

Postby shirish » 05 May 2011 17:12

Hi all,
I am getting the following error when I try to play a file which has .sub for subtitles. This happens both in MS-Windows as well as in Debian GNU/Linux. One thing might be that the .sub file itself might be corrupted, the other might be that I do not have proper software for seeing the .sub file.

Here's the error output :-

Code: Select all

avi warning: unknown chunk (not loaded) avi warning: unknown chunk (not loaded) filesystem error: cannot open file somepath/something.sub (No such file or directory) main error: no suitable access module for `file:/somepath/something.sub' vobsub error: couldn't open .sub Vobsub file: file:/somepath/something.sub subtitle warning: failed to recognize subtitle type main error: no suitable demux module for `file/subtitle:/somepath/something.idx' main warning: vlc_object_find_name(postproc) is not safe! main warning: PTS is out of range (-9747), dropping buffer main warning: PTS is out of range (-32604), dropping buffer signals error: signal 17 overriden (0x7f3147caa520) signals error: /usr/lib/libQtCore.so.4(?)[(nil)] main warning: output date isn't PTS date, requesting resampling (114539) main warning: buffer is 114539 late, triggering upsampling
Now while the above is clearly about GNU/Linux but get same output (other than the path) in MS-Windows. Looking forward to help and info.
