Freezes whenever I open a file via explorer when already run

Whenever I have the program running and the song or playlist I am currently listening to is over and I go to select another song from explorer VLC freezes. I have to go into task manager and manually close it. I can then select a new song to play but it will always do the same thing if the song has ended before I select another. It has been doing this since 1.0 release, and it does it on both my and my wife's computer. Its getting really frustrating for us and my wife already switched back to WMP, so if anyone can help out I would really appreciate it.

You run one instance mode with queuing?

'One instance when started from file' is checked. 'Enqueue items to playlist when in one instance mode' is not checked.

No, I use album art sometimes. I usually leave it in playlist screen.
