Artist/Title change with network stream

I searched the forum for "network stream" and a few other options, but didn't find an answer to this.

I run a Music Player Daemon server locally. I configured it for streaming over http. If I connect to the stream from MPC, I am able to see artist/title information for the current song. If I connect via VLC, the artist/title displays, but ONLY for the artist/title of the song playing when I first connect to the stream. After that, when a song changes, the artist/title info is not reflected in VLC.

Is there a setting in VLC I can change to get current song info from streams?
