Maximum Connections

I am running VLC from an linux box command line. I am transcoding the output from an IP camera (RTSP) to an FLV to I can watch said camera from Flowplayer/JWPlayer. Everything works great until I make more than 3 connections from my flash video player. When the 4th connection is attempted any existing connections stall and no new connections can be made until VLC is restarted. I've looked to see if there was a max connections/bandwidth setting but am coming up empty. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
