VLC not able to run on Mac OS

I got the latest level of VLC player and install/drag to Application folder. However, I can not open the player. It just shuts down at the middle of the start up. I follow the instruction and delete the Preference and yet still no help. Can anyone point out what is wrong? Thanks you.
