Replaceing Quicktime

Postby dgary99 » 27 Feb 2011 22:01

I use Windows XP, Mozilla/firefox. I used to rely on Quicktime to view/hear web content. I got rid of Quicktime, thinking my system would simply use VLC 1.1.7 - it didn't happen. How can I change whatever to cause VLC to be employed where I used to use Quicktime?

Do you mean:
Tools menu on Firefox or on Windows explorer?

On Firefox, after I hit "tools", there is no "preferences" choice
In Windows Explorer, after I hit "tools", there is no "preferences" choice

If you mean Windows Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options.
I replaced just about every QuickTime Association with VLC - VLC never comes up

Specifically, I'm on websites that offer samples of full movies that used to play in QuickTime. So, how do I get those movie samples to play via VLC, or must I reinstall Quicktime?
