change fast forward speed?

Is there a way to set the speeds it increases at when you press "+"? It currently goes from 2x 3x 4x 8x and at 8x there is usually video distortion, pauses, no sound, etc. so I was trying to find a way to set it to go to 6x first. Thanks.

There is a slider if you need more granularity: click on the speed factor in the status bar. As far as I know, you cannot change the +/- multiplicator.
