Reading AVCHD discs

I create AVCHD discs using Total Media Extreme 1.0.9.9. Total Media Theater plays these AVCHD discs without problems

But using VLC Media Player, I cannot open these discs as "disc". In both W7 and XP SP3 I can open the disc as a folder and play the video, but I cannot open the disc. Is this a bug, or should I be doing something different? Thanx

AFAIK VLC doesn't support AVCHD menus or other special features. But the M2TS files should play.
