Subtitles dropped about 3/4 into movie

Postby viewer3403512 » 17 Nov 2010 19:03

I have a movie and about 3/4 of the way into the subtitles disappear. I've checked the .srt file and the times seem to be fine, also I notice(d) that the time in the movie according to VLC (which should be around 1:05:00 switches back to zero at that point, as if the movie is starting anew. Also I've noticed with this one particular film I cannot slide the toggle switch (I can but it always bumps back to the very beginning). Apart from reading the text file as the movie plays, is there anything I can do? (I dl'ed the movie via BitTorrent and there are no other copies available, it's a hard-to-find foreign film).

your file is probably "two videos concatenated together" you may be able to "recreate indexes" using mencoder or similar, perhaps.
