VLC and Free.fr 'TV sur PC'

Postby greg.harvey » 13 Sep 2010 22:20

Hi,

I'm running Fedora 12, standard VLC installation from the Fedora repository. I followed this tutorial to get TV stations in VLC:
http://www.free.fr/assistance/2236-free ... ateur.html

It works, in so far as the Free.fr Service exists... BUT. A few seconds after I tick the box, I get this in Messages:

Code: Select all

main debug: adding services_discovery freebox... main debug: looking for services_discovery module: 1 candidate shout debug: Starting Freebox main debug: using services_discovery module "shout" main debug: TIMER module_need() : 0.350 ms - Total 0.350 ms / 1 intvls (Avg 0.350 ms) main debug: Creating an input for 'Freebox TV' main debug: rebuilding array of current - root Playlist main debug: rebuild done - 0 items, index -1 main debug: using timeshift granularity of 50 MBytes main debug: using timeshift path '/tmp' main debug: `http://mafreebox.freebox.fr/freeboxtv/playlist.m3u' gives access `http' demux `' path `mafreebox.freebox.fr/freeboxtv/playlist.m3u' main debug: creating demux: access='http' demux='' path='mafreebox.freebox.fr/freeboxtv/playlist.m3u' main debug: looking for access_demux module: 0 candidates main debug: no access_demux module matched "http" main debug: TIMER module_need() : 0.080 ms - Total 0.080 ms / 1 intvls (Avg 0.080 ms) main debug: creating access 'http' path='mafreebox.freebox.fr/freeboxtv/playlist.m3u' main debug: looking for access module: 2 candidates access_http debug: asking libproxy about url 'http://mafreebox.freebox.fr/freeboxtv/playlist.m3u' access_http debug: libproxy suggest to use 'direct://' access_http debug: http: server='mafreebox.freebox.fr' port=80 file='/freeboxtv/playlist.m3u main debug: net: connecting to mafreebox.freebox.fr port 80 main debug: connection: Operation now in progress main warning: connection timed out access_http error: cannot connect to mafreebox.freebox.fr:80 main debug: net: connecting to mafreebox.freebox.fr port 80 main debug: connection: Operation now in progress main warning: connection timed out access_mms error: cannot connect to mafreebox.freebox.fr:80 main warning: no access module matching "http" could be loaded main debug: TIMER module_need() : 10664.456 ms - Total 10664.456 ms / 1 intvls (Avg 10664.455 ms) main debug: waitpipe: object killed main error: open of `http://mafreebox.freebox.fr/freeboxtv/playlist.m3u' failed: (null) main debug: TIMER input launching for 'Freebox TV' : 10682.546 ms - Total 10682.546 ms / 1 intvls (Avg 10682.545 ms) main debug: creating VLM

Weird! My computer can't traceroute to mafreebox.freebox.fr either, but it resolves and can be pinged. Any ideas? Any other Free.fr users out there who know why this is?

Reboot your freebox. Both of them.

Did that (I only have one - they didn't send us a TV box because they said the connection wasn't strong enough, but they said 'TV sur PC' should work). Post-reboot, same messages. :(

Edit: Contacted Free, they were useless, directed me to http://tv.freebox.fr and said I could only have the channels there (which I can't, because it doesn't seem to work with Linux - tries to detect VLC for Windows, I presume, and makes no attempt to load content if it's not found). So unless this magically starts working it seems, for some reason, Free.fr are preventing me from accessing that file and their tech support don't seem willing to do anything about it.
