I am using VLC as a plugin for Firefox and tuning into TV broadcasts using UDP. I have recently upgraded to version 1.1.1 and I am now getting a problem when the TV aspect ratio changes.
If I am receiving a 4:3 broadcast then the picture is nicely centred on the screen and looks great. The broadcast then goes to a commercial break, and the content switches to 16:9. Once the broadcast returns from 16:9 to 4:3 then the problems begin.
The 4:3 content gets shoved off to the left of the screen leaving a horrible white space on the right. If I change playlist items at this point to another TV stream, one that is in 16:9, the new content gets squeezed into the 4:3 box and does not resize.
I have some pictures to highlight what I'm talking about:
1) This is the content playing normally in 4:3 mode: http://imgur.com/Ebh51.jpg
2) This is a 16:9 advert kicking in: http://imgur.com/kQWBp.jpg
3) This is what happens the aspect ratio goes back from 16:9 to 4:3: http://imgur.com/qhuo0.jpg
4) This is when the playlist item is changed to another channel: http://imgur.com/wcS02.jpg
This bug was not a problem in the 1.0 branch. It is only since I have upgraded to 1.1 that the bug has manifested. Does anyone know if there is a workaround for it?
PS: I have a raw dump of an DVB-T stream that reproduces the bug reliably. The file is 20MB and I can post it somewhere if anyone is interested in recreating the problem.
EDIT: Could this bug be a variation on this one already reported? https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/3848
