Playlist looping failure

Postby bsd13 » 10 Jul 2010 08:41

I'm having zero luck getting a playlist to loop over and over continuously for 15+ hours a day.

It has 3 videos in it. The first is 12 minutes long, the second 6 minutes long and the last 17 minutes long. It goes through the three videos, one after another and then when it reaches the end of the final video it loops that video (3rd one) over and over, but never repeats the rest of the playlist like it's supposed to do.

I've set the advanced preferences to "repeat all" in the playlist but apparently that function is either broken or not fully implemented in VLC? The only solution I've managed to find is to add those three video files repeatedly to the player and then push play every 5 hours or so. I'm all but certain this is NOT the best way to go about doing this. Hoping someone can direct me to the real resolution of this issue. Oh, and the catch is it can't involve command line parameters. It has to be workable from the GUI interface.

Using VLC 1.1.0

Repeat all works fine in here. Could you open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start playbac and paste those messages here (or to pastebin) after it starts to repeat the last item?

Thanks for getting back. Here's the output from the log file for the first couple of seconds after it begins looping the last video. For debugging purposes I've removed one of the videos and tried them in different orders/combinations to see if that makes a difference but so far nothing. I've also removed some of the repeated messages from the log such as buffering and main debug 2.0/4.0

DVD might be the issue. The disc might be authored to repeat itself and VLC cannot override that.
