VLC seems to have problems playing mms streams that come from Unrealmedia servers. I've setup Unrealmedia to stream a wmv/wma stream using the asf container over mms. Mplayer can play such streams ( eg useing "mplayer mms://192.168.0.77:5119/tv" for me) as well as windows media player and unrealmedia player. However VLC doesn't seem to be able to do so.
I've used versions 1.0.5 to 1.1 on 3 different computers using various versions of Linux and Windows XP. I can't seem to find anyone who has talked about this problem.

The same thing seems to happen whatever my OS setup is and whatever comp I use. Eg, on another comp (AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor) Mandriva 2010.0 (2.6.31.13) using vlc 1.0.6 it says....
