Need a little help w/vlc 1.1.0

Been using vlc 0.8.6 and vlc 1.0.0 for video testing. Before upgrading to vlc 1.1.0, when doing a test i would click on file tab then [open network stream], then click on udp/rtp multicast and enter ip address and port number,to view channel. Since upgrading to vlc 1.1.0 i select media and open network stream and it has url only with no option of udp. Can i use vlc 1.1.0 or do i have it set up wrong?
