Can't play DVDs from command line

Postby andrefre » 08 Jul 2010 17:30

Hi, would appreciate any help here.

I've an original DVD that plays perfectly on VLC 1.1, using "Open Disc".

However, when I run the DVD from the command line using:
/Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/VLC dvdsimple:///VOLUMES/THE_GREEN_MILE

I get the following error (Also, a home-burnt DVD without encryption doesnt have this problem) :

From the Terminal:

[0x10029ae18] main interface error: no suitable interface module
[0x1002148a8] main libvlc error: interface "globalhotkeys, none" initialization failed

I've tried VLC 0.84, 0.99a, 1.1, and 1.1.1. They all don't work.

Also, I've tried deleting .dvdcss from my user directory, it doesn't work.

Thanks!

Trying:

/Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/VLC dvd:///VOLUMES/THE_GREEN_MILE/VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_0.VOB

also doesnt work. Specifying @1 doesnt work too.

(The commands all work with a home burnt DVD)

This question is over 1 year old, but for those with this problem, try:

/Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/VLC dvd:///dev/rdisk1
(assumes your DVD device is rdisk1)
