HJsplit

Hello
I dont know if this should be in Feature Requests or something
I download files with the extension .001 .002 exc..
Now I know that there hjsplit files.. and That I need to join them
But the weird thing is that I can open file number .001 with vlc , But I can not open file .002 with vlc, I know that I need to join them, But is there a way of playing the .002 part with out joining the files?? Because sometimes I see the movie while I download it, and as I get to see part .002 I have not downloaded all the other parts yet...
I dont think that HJSPLIT is an archive it just cut the file..
