Horizontal cutting.

Postby amdcpp » 02 Jun 2010 01:30

Hello all,

I am not sure if this is a recent problem or not (I never noticed it before), but I am playing a .mkv file and I get some crazy
horizontal sheering. I took a couple screenshots of it, but it seems to happen most when there is a quick scene. I am not sure
if it is the encoding or the decoding and it's not really a vlc specific problem, this happens also on mplayer and with other
file types such as .avi, however more compressed video is not nearly as noticeable, but it's there. I am running gentoo with
64-bit arch. Let me know what information you need.

*Edit:
I forgot to mention I did try messing with the settings, but nothing seemed to work. It was either same or worse. I am a
video n00b.

Hello again,

I switched to OpenGL output and it fixed the lines for the .avi files. The .avi files were using the XVID codec and the
.mkv files using the h.264 codec. .mkv files were unchanged, still look the same. At this point I can only assume it's the
codec?
