Converting FLV to MOV (or MP4)

Postby marklewismedia » 12 Apr 2010 17:07

I have an FLV downloaded from Ustream that appears resistant to editing. I tried to convert to MOV using MPEG Streamclip but it kills the video track, leaving only a white screen and audio. I tried VLC but am getting only a 4kb MOV file that my machine won't recognize as a video file. My steps are:

- Transcode/Save to file
- Select stream (FLV)
- No change to compression format of audio or video
- Select MOV

I've also tried converting it to an mp4 by adjusting the compression settings:

- Transcode video (h.264, 1024 kbps)
- Transcode audio (dummy, 192 kbps)

Any help would be enormously appreciated. I've worked with FLVs for years and have never had serious issues. I'm thinking Ustream produces some strange variation. I got MacVideo to work decently well but don't want to pay $100 for the pro upgrade.

Thank you.
