Video/Audio Device

Postby lightyear22 » 15 Feb 2005 00:00

I would like to incorporate a mpeg-2 video/audio decoder card to this app. I am using the their video encoder card as of now to encode my mpeg-2 mulitiplexed streams. The decider card is called the "Mason" http://www.wiredinc.com/MasonInfo.html

The goal is to have a 500+hours of mpeg-2 video library on my xraid. Use the playlist in VLC to play the days programming on a local community access station. The company Wired Incd. has told me that the card will be Open API. I am not a programmer. So is this at all possible?

Thanks
Andy

VLC already has support for some hardware MPEG2 encoding cards (PVR). If you're lucky it works already.

It should work fine on Windows if the card supports DirectShow. On Linux, a specific driver might have to be written. We support Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-250/350 and Visiontech Kfir at the moment.

I am already encoding not using VLC. I want to send the video out through the decoder card using VLC.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

VLC is not able to send decode MPEG2 video in hardware. It could probably be implemented, but it is not currently supported.
