DVD Navigation

Postby Spyme » 17 Feb 2010 00:20

Since versions above 1.0, i have a lot of navigation problems while watching dvds. First of all, i tested if its a dvd problem while using Win Media Player, Media Center and PowerDVD. They all work fine. Navigation iussues are unless of Media (loaded from orig. DVD, ripped without restrictions, ripped to hdd). "ALL" DVD menus works fine if i select the video_ts.ifo. While opened as folder from video_ts, menu sometimes works, sometimes not. While opened as normal Media (Drive X with DVD in) it doesnt work in allmost cases. So, is there a Bug listed for that issue, or did i do something wrong?

"Open >> Media" fails most times. You get the playback, but sometimes you cant see the menu elements, or cannot access them. But works well when i open the video_ts.ifo.

I have noticed on mine, (DVD on harddrive) it just "plays" the menu at warp speed and then closes up like the movie is over.

As you said, i remember that sometimes the "underlines" of the selected menu items appears, but not the item itself.

Does it help if you remove %appdata%\dvdcss folder?

Could my problem have anything to do with running Windows 7 32-bit ?

It shouldn't have.

Could you open Tools -> Messages... (set Verbosity to 2) and then start playback? Messages should complain something.

I will make some tests as you mentioned, until my new Blue-Ray Drive has arrived. Currently my old DVD drive (samsung sucks btw), has lifted his feets into the air.

This is an educational dvd (Files of dvd played from harddrive) that someone gave me.
Its just odd to me that is plays in WMP correctly and not VLC. But I like VLC so much better than WMP.

It is just that
dvdnav warning: cannot get next block (Expected NAV packet but none found.)
implies badly authored disc.

It uses different parser which skips the problem in some way.
