security concern C:\PROGRAM FILES\VideoLAN\VLC\plugins\libi4

Postby Duckduck » 01 Feb 2010 02:45

Hi there
I installed VLC just now on my new laptop and my Kaspersky antivirus indicates that the C:\PROGRAM FILES\VideoLAN\VLC\plugins\libi422_yuy2_sse2_plugin.dll is a security threat and is a Trojan program (Trojan.Win32.Monder.gen)

Can anybody let me know what is going on and what to do about it??
Thanks!

Your antivirus is wrong. :D

Try to update it.

As of yesterday, ClamWin is finding Trojan.Monder-136 in the libi422_yuy2_sse2_plugin.dll.

C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\plugins\libi422_yuy2_sse2_plugin.dll: Trojan.Monder-136 FOUND

VLC is latest version. Says "VLC media player 1.0.5 Goldeneye" in About box. Running on fresh install of Windows XP Pro (US/English/SP3). All plug-ins in the C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\plugins folder have a modification date of 1/30/2010 4:27 PM according to Windows. Time is CST (GMT -06:00).

ClamWin is 0.95.3 with latest defintions.

Here is another user reporting the same thing:

I checked the file as instructed on the clamwin website at virustotal.com and got the following report so it looks like a false positve although make up your own mind.

Only 3 out of 41 virus checkers pick this file up. I've submitted it to clamwin as a false positive.
