Has anyone gotten vlc to work with Solaris 10 x86?

Postby TinklePit » 15 Jan 2010 23:48

I first installed the precompiled binaries from Blastwave.org. They installed, along with 82 prerequisites, without error. But when I run it I get a segmentation fault core dump whenever I try to open a file. Same problem for *.mov, *.wmv and *.avi. ldd shows that are libraries can be seen.

So I tried downloading the latest source, but I can't get configure to run without error. Probably missing libraries.

Has anyone been successful with Solaris 10 and vlc 1? There is a previous thread here, but it seems to be out of date and the people in the thread were still having problems.

TIA for any and all help.

I haven't myself, but would be *very* interested if someone does this.

Of course if you are getting a seg fault, Solaris has this amazing tool called Dtrace…
