Problem merging .avi with .srt

Postby cette_puissance » 12 Jan 2010 10:32

I am trying to merge a .avi file and a .srt file using VLC media player. First i go to main menu, scroll down to "convert/save" then choose the .avi and then click "add subtitles" and choose my .srt. After that i click "convert/save" and it takes me to the next page. From there...i am not quite sure what to do, so i didn't click anything on that page and just hit "save". Then i get a beautiful little error which says:

"File reading failed:
VLC could not open the file "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\auberge.AVI :sub-file=C:/Documents and Settings/Administrator/Desktop/auberge.srt :subsdec-align=0 :freetype-rel-fontsize=0".
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\auberge.AVI :sub-file=C:/Documents and Settings/Administrator/Desktop/auberge.srt :subsdec-align=0 :freetype-rel-fontsize=0'. Check the log for details."

anyone have any suggestions as to what i am doing wrong? The reason i am trying to do this btw, is because i want to put the .avi with subtitles onto an mp3 player (specifically Creative Zen Vision W.) Any help would be enormously appreciated. thank you for your time.

p.s. running windows xp, if that information helps.

Looks like you've hit a well known bug in the UI
