I've been using VLC for ages on a windows machine, but have just recently tried to get it working on a new kubuntu install I've done. When I go to play a standard audio CD, everything _appears_ to work fine - the player shows the track is being played - but no sound comes out.
Kubuntu 9.10
vlc - 1.0.2.1ubuntu2(amd64)
The output device is just a pair of USB headphones, which work fine when tested from another app on the box. The preferences are set to defaults (though I did try a couple of other audio output types, to no avail.)
I can't imagine this is really a problem with VLC, but I'm hoping someone on here will have seen something similar and can point me in the right direction. Results of "vlc -vvv" attached below in case that helps. Thanks much,
