Remote control problem

The system (play and pause iTunes, Volume control) is still responsive to the remote control even though VLC is running

Are you running Snow Leopard? I think this is a consequence of a different version of OS X, although it could instead be due to iTunes 9.

yes SL, but no iTunes 9.
I posted this thinking that I am posting in a SL section as a bug report, not as a question, sorry.
