no voice track in 5.1 setting

Postby kilgore » 05 Jan 2005 06:11

using vlc v 0.8.1 w/ winxppro, I'm trying to play an xvid file but I only get background music and sound fx but no voice track in the 5.1 setting. Although I do get full audio (with voice track) in the stereo and 2front and 2rear setting. avicodec says its ac3 and has 5 channels. is it possbible to get a voice track in 5.1?

here is a screenshot of vlc and avicodec, hopefully it works

it seems vlc "fixed" itself after a reboot. got the voice track in 5.1. for future reference is there a way to handle this without a reboot if I encounter this problem again?

Hey, I found --a-- solution!

In your Realtek Audio Manager software, go to the sound effects tab. Find the tick box labeled "Loudness Equalization". Make sure it is checked.

Boom!

Also this takes care of the issue that hate:

Super quiet speech in a movie.... when.... BAM! Soundtrack kicks in and death comes upon a one mile radius. No more! It equalizes the loudness. Unbelievable!
Although this may not be preferred in a surround setup I know. It works.
