Animation on VLC playback Features site

Postby hoal » 02 Jul 2009 12:25

Hi there,

there is a javascript animation when switching between the different feature categories on the VLC playback Features site. IMHO it is very annoying having to wait for the animation to finish when what I actually want is the features information.

Now I don't want to simply change it without asking for more opinions on that topic. Generally I dislike websites which are not at all usable without javascript or even worse force me to watch fancy time consuming animations.

Regards,
Alex

The website IS usable w/o javascript and the delay between the category switches is minimal, I'm sure you can wait 1 second.

Well, w/o javascript I cannot acticate any category in the left menu.

Of course I can wait one second, but if every website makes one wait one second
after every click, I'll spend much more time waiting than I want to.
The point is: The animation is not needed in any way other than looking fancy. The
latter is of no benefit the purpose of a feature list, which is serving information.

A non-fancy way I can think of w/o js is an iframe for the table content. I can put it up if you want. Maybe also a JavaScript check to determine how to display the list.

Having a look at your website tells me that your knowledge about websites is far superior to mine, so yes, I'd appreciate it. But please, do a quickly accessible version for javascript, too.
