VLC Lags/Spikes when running Transmission.

Postby neenja » 12 Jun 2009 07:19

When I have Transmission running and downloading torrents, VLC will have a lot of lags and spikes during a movie. As soon as I turn off Transmission (torrent dling program) the lags and mini movie spikes stop.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Movies are local?

What is the CPU load? Is it high and does it spike at the same time?
Providing logs, messages, configuration info (VLC, OS, Hardware) and a clear explanation of the issue always helps the problem solvers help you, even if they don't end up solving the issue. Just think what you would need if you were solving someone else's problem. Additional: Always looking for eager and capable MacOS X developers to join the VLC team - for more information see here.

A lot of disc and CPU activity, will inevitably interfere with VLC playback, and the more intense your movie is that you are watching, the more noticeable it will be. Try using a non-JAVA bittorrent application. Those will be a tad more light on resources.
