Any way to record this RV30 stream?

Postby Kevin Ar18 » 04 Jun 2009 05:23

Actually there are several here:
http://webcast.berkeley.edu/course_deta ... 1906978278
VLC and MPlayer both seem to handle the audio but not the video. In some places I've read that RV30 is not supported in VLC; in other places I've read that the real codec has been reverse engineered -- meaning real video support has been added. Anyways, what are my options for recording these RV30 rtsp streams? Is there experimental support somewhere and it just hasn't been added to the main build or is there no open source solution anywhere?

Edit: I tried:
VLC 0.9.9 Windows binary/install
SMPlayer 0.6.6 SVNr2599 (using MPlayer SVN r28126) Windows binary/install

Problem is not the codec, but the protocol.
Try VLC 1.0.0, but I am not sure it will be better.

Thanks. Gave it a try... funny thing though. VLC 1 shows the video but trashes the audio (which worked in 0.9).

Not sure what you mean.. no messages, just screeching sound.

VLC 1.0.0-rc2
Playing:
rtsp://169.229.131.16:554//bibs/older2/cs152/20030826.rm?start=&end=

Problem: audio is screaching.
Audio, cook, Mono, 22050 Hz, 16bit

I'm so sad now... I've spent 5-10 hours trying to find something to solve this problem... and have little of anything to show for it. I know it is not your fault; it's just I'm so sad that I haven't gotten anywhere after all this time. :(

Hmm... I'm considering really odd solutions now.... like using version 0.9 to download the audio and version 1.0 to download the video... only one problem... the downloads happen in real-playback-time (so it's soooo slow) and they don't seem to every finish the download all the way. Where should I ask about this problem?

You should be able to download the file using demux-dump option.

Thanks VLC_help

Can you check if I got the command right ? (copied from someone else here on the forum)
vlc.exe "rtsp://169.229.131.16:554//bibs/older2/cs152/20030826.rm?start=&end=" :demux=dump :demuxdump-file="raw.rm"

If I can get it all on the computer, that'll make it sooo much easier to deal with.

Edit: they are downloading now :)
