Hey

Postby Solidis » 01 Jun 2009 04:32

Ive been using VLC.. for a while and love it.. simple and quick... i have a queston i like to stream and i use FME ( Flash Media Encoder) to stream to justin.tv.. my only issue is that every video i have is diffrent size... in other words.. when i try to crop one movie .. it shows just how i want it.. but when the next one comes up it a total diffrent size.. and i have to stop the feed or have everyone watch what im doing to capture the size again so they can watch it perfectly again.. Is there anyway i can set VLC to just play all the videos the same size.. so i wont have to keep resizeing my Manycam video capture....

So you want to keep VLC the same size/be cropped when playing several videos?

If so, go to:
Tools >> Preferences... >> (Select "All" for "Show settings") >> Video

Then scroll down and enter you desired "Video width", "Video height" and (if you want it cropped) "Video cropping" ratio. Press "Save" and try some videos.

If it doesn't work very well with VLC 0.9.9 try the latest RC build of VLC 1.0.0:
http://download.videolan.org/pub/testin ... rc2/win32/

I did the same as you write. The video with and height is set to fix size and it works.
But there are two issues:
1.
When the pre video reach the end and the next video will begin in playlist, the display window reopen for the next and set to the fix width and height. The version 1.0.0rc2 fix it for playing one video loop, but more than one video doesn't work.
such as:
Gapless playback v0.9.2:
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=51320&p=166665&hil ... ss#p166665
gapless video repeat:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=58365&p=194609&hili ... ss#p194609
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=58576

2.
I know can set the stretch rate for all setting.
In fix window width and height mode, how to set the different size videos in playlist auto stretch to fit the fix window?

thanks.

VLC needs to reopen the video when changing files - window should for the next video should be same size however (in VLC 1.0.0-rc2 anyway). If you want seamless playback for e.g. a stream you could transcode/stream the video playlist and use --sout-keep (although for just playback not really necessary).

Set the "Source aspect ratio" to be the same as the window size (so - if 640x480 try "640:480" or just "4:3").
