Playing .mp4 files

Postby gulcin » 27 May 2009 08:33

Hello;
I get video streams from an hik card, and write them to a *.mp4 file using hik-vision sdk. But when I want to read that file(play it in vlc media player) it does not show anything, it just hangs. When I try to play it with windows media player it works.
I tried to convert an .avi file to .mp4 and play it with vlc, and worked- showed the .mp4 file converted. And, I also tried to load an .mp4 file from the Internet and play with vlc, and it did not work(but I am not sure if it is corrupted or not.)

So; I could not understand the problem, is it related to codecs, vlc or the file written by hikvision sdk. Could anyone help??

Thanks..

Note: I use vlc 0.9.9

Sorry for the late reply. I could not find a place to attach the .mp4 file.
But I have found in VLC forum similar/same problem :
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=42392&p=134214#p134214

So, the problem is about the hik sdk, not vlc.

Thanks for your attention.

This is a very old thread, a lot of things have changed in the meanwhile.

Please post a sample of the video.
Use DGsplit and read here how to do it:

And upload it to some free file hosting site like Zshare.net or Megaupload.com.
