Current version 1.1.0-git, compiled for "Skins2" using "raptor" skin
Qt4 latest < debian sid version 4.5.1-2
Required: libxcb-shm0-dev, libxcb-xv0-dev, libxcb-keysyms0-dev < debian sid
O/S: Ubuntu-Jaunty-release (broken pulse-audio), latest xorg.
Hardware: Asus P4gpl-x MB, Intel northwood 3.0 gb, multithreading, 1 gb DDR2, ati-X800xt gpu, LCD-monitor, 1366x768 native.
Fluxbox desktop

This compile...video (avi, mpg) appears to play consistantly w/o hangs, real-time swicthing main layouts work. Haven't been able to make an avi or mpg fail at all. Default gui flashes off (fraction of a second), then re-appears @ the default video ar, clean exits. Crashes immediately on zoom, segfault! Otherwise, tested all day, about 3 dozen or so runs for each of the 1st 3 issues.

1) Zoom is broken. On previous builds, when not hanging, video-play/dvd-play/vizualizations would zoom, but incorrectly. This build won't zoom at all, min/max layout sizes were calculated on vlc-99a2, working perfectly from 1/4 - 2/1, any default ar. Failures here...always. Errors recorded this build:

2) DVD-play is intermittant. On previous builds, dvd-play would fly most of the time, but crash on stop. This build very similar, when does play, segfaults on "stop", also won't zoom, fails about 2/3. Errors recorded, this build:

3) Vizualiztions working on most attempts, works more often than not. even w layout switching, proper "auto-sizing" to default size on "play", clean "exits" after stop, from either gui-layout. Failure rate about 3-4/10 tries. Gui freezes, goes phantom when trying to copy output (accessing another open window) to a text-file, closes from taskbar. Some output errors:

4) Text, in particular, "$N", will always display (defaults) in allocated place, once play starts, even after stopped, doesn't respond to "visible attributes" (not vlc.isStopped or vlc.isPlaying) as other text displays will. This does affect the design/aesthetics of a skin, requiring workarounds.

5) When used w "visible attributes" (not vlc.isStopped or vlc.is Playing), time, "$D", is the only one of the time displays that won't initialize time (digits), always shows the (-:--:--) place characters, once play begins. This requires another workaround for proper displaying.
