Trouble streaming desktop

Postby JinF » 15 May 2009 16:48

Hello,

I am trying to stream my desktop (and later gameplay footage if possible), first over the LAN, then over the Internet. After fighting through several problems like muxers not co-operating I have finally got it to stream, but I have a problem. When trying to view the stream from a PC on my LAN I either get a gray screen (on Linux VLC 0.8.6) or nothing at all (Windows XP VLC 0.9.9). It shows that it is streaming and receiving on the machines, but nothing is showing. Any idea what causes this and how to fix it? I used the UI to produce my Sout.

Here is the command line that is generated: screen:// :screen-fps=30 :sout=#transcode{vcodec=mp4v,vb=800,scale=1}:duplicate{dst=rtp{dst=192.xxx.xxx.xxx,mux=ts,port=1234}}

Make sure the content is not video accelerated, otherwise it's impossible to extract it.

Well, I am trying to get just the desktop itself for now, with nothing running. Still same problem.
