Audio-only streaming from LineIn?

Postby franky » 25 Nov 2004 12:16

Hi there!

I would like to connect an external audio source to my soundcard's line-in connector and stream that over the internet using VLC in UDP mode. I am totally new to VLC, searched the docs and the forums but coudn't find an answer on how to stream LineIn sound. Video is not requeired.

I first thought of shoutcast and thelike but the UDP function in VLC is very attractive for efficiency and speed to keep down the latency.

Any hints are highly appreciated!

under windows this is done using the directshow module, under linux you use the v4l module, both can be used without video.
